Styled to mimic an acoustic piano, the SP-170 boasts a simple and clean design which eliminates the need for a control panel. In place of knobs, buttons and switches, the SP-170 relies on the keys themselves to perform these functions. You can choose from two colors — chic black and elegant white — to match the décor of any room. The SP-170 is also lightweight and easy to transport, making it an ideal choice for concerts or live use. Korg keyboard - Karlee Cox - Sparks, NV United States
We ordered this Korg Keyboard for our vacation condo so our daughter could practice while away from her regular piano. It is excellent! In every way it is excellent. Weight of the keys, the sound, the 88 keys, the ability to plug into earphones and not disturb neighbors. This was by far the best we could have purchased for the space we have and what our needs are. We are very, very pleased!

Meet your new musical addiction. Click to enlarge.

Innovative touch-pad control controls separate parameters along X and Y axes.

Features stereo RCA output and headphone jack.

100 Playable Synth Programs
The KAOSSILATOR offers 100 unique patches for you to play, from nautral instruments to synth basses and leads, including ten drum patterns and 31 musical patterns. Sounds include:

  • Preset drum/bass grooves with flexible effects
  • Fat synth lead sounds
  • Acoustic instruments like trumpet, digeridoo, sitar, and more
  • Tap-able drum voices
  • Extra thick and juicy basses
  • Complete chords with filters and other effects
  • Space-age sound effects to send your loop beyond the cosmos

Innovative Touch-Pad Control
This is what defines Korg’s entire KAOSS PAD/KAOSSILATOR series, and what made ‘em such a hit. You play the KAOSSILATOR by moving your finger around on (or tapping on) the touchpad, thereby controlling the sound. The parameters controlled by the X axis and Y axis depend on the preset (for example, a bass synth might feature pitch along the X axis and filter resonance along the Y axis).

Scale/Key Controls
It may not have keys, but the Kaossilator can still play a hook. It lets you control a full two octaves of notes just by touching the pad. To make sure you’re playing in the same mode as everyone else, you can choose what kind of scale to use, from 31 different options. You can also set the root note, including flats and sharps, so you’re always in tune no matter how wacked out you get on the effects.

Adjustable BPM and Gated Arpeggiator
To get the beat to your desired BPM, you can select a normal MIDI tempo or enter a tap tempo with your finger. The built-in Gate Arpeggiator repeatedly triggers sounds in sync with the tempo. The slider controls either the gate time or gate speed. 50 different gated arpeggiator types are included.

Loop (Phrase) Recording
The KAOSSILATOR can record and playback phrases and patterns that you play on the touch pad–loop style. During playback, you can play along. You can even add another layer to the loop recording. This process can be repeated, adding several new layers. Recorded phrases can be up to 8 beats (2 bars of 4/4) in length.

Portable KAOSS
Create some chaos anywhere you go. The KAOSSILATOR is eminently portable, weighing in at 5.43 oz without batteries, and with dimensions of 4.17 x 5.08 x 1.14 inches. It’s powered with four AA batteries, for up to about five hours of operation. You can also snag an optional AC adapter for plugging it in.

RCA/Headphone Outputs
The KAOSSILATOR features a dual RCA stereo line out, for quick connection to mixers or interfaces, and a mini headphone out, for using on the go.

What’s in the Box
Owner’s Manual, parameter sheet, four AA “test” batteries

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Korg TM-40 Large Display Digital Tuner and Metronome Korg:KOR TM40

A great lesson and practice tool, the Korg TM-40 offers both tuner and metronome functions that can be used simultaneously or independently. A large LCD-type needle delivers both the accuracy of an LCD and excellent visibility of a needle indicator. The metronome tuner also has LED indicators that show pitch deviation or blink to indicate the tempo.

See larger image.

With a detection range of C1 (32.70 Hz) - C8 (4186.01 Hz), the TM-40 provides quick and accurate coverage of a wide spectrum of notes and pitches for wind, string, keyboard and most other instruments. Even low-pitched instruments with complex overtone structures are detected. A built-in high-sensitivity microphone allows acoustic instruments such as a guitar or ukulele to be tuned easily and accurately, and the separately available CM-100L contact microphone can be used to send the vibrations directly to the metronome tuner for even greater precision.

In addition to its visual tuning guidefunctionality, you can use the TM-40’s built-in speaker to produce a tuning reference pitch (Sound Out)–convenient for tuning by ear and useful for ear training. The TM-40’s Calibration setting is adjustable in a range of 410~480 Hz to accommodate a variety of tuning standards. The calibration can be adjusted in 1 Hz steps, letting you accurately tune to any song or key. Memory backup is also provided so that the Calibration and Sound Out settings are remembered even when the power is turned off.

The metronome function of the TM-40 features a Beat Mode, which lets you choose a preset tempo and time signature, while Tap mode lets you specify your own tempo. And with a large integrated speaker, the TM-40 produces a clear and distinct metronome sound. The TM-40 also includes 13 rhythm variations for practicing a wide range of styles.

The metronome section of this portable metronome offers convenient functions for practicing a variety of music–covering 0-7 beats per measure as well as doublets, triplets, triplets with center beats omitted, quadruplets, and quadruplets with center beats omitted. Since the volume is adjustable, the TM-40 can meet the needs of any situation from private practice in a small room to sessions in a large studio.
